Hi there,
I'm the owner / operator of Dog Training Help (and this web site). My aim is to support people in learning to communicate with and teach dogs to live well in the human world. Well behaved dogs can do more fun things.Their humans have more fun too.
When I got my first puppy in 2006, I wasn’t a dog trainer. But I thought I knew enough about training to see me through. Sadly, my pup developed a behaviour problem. I sought help from "professionals", but none succeeded in helping me. One trainer made the problem worse. Amika was my teacher dog. I began to learn about dog training to help both of us.
My education was originally a Bachelor’s in Biology at Murdoch U.. At that time, I began volunteering to rehabilitate injured raptors (birds of prey). I ran a conservation education business (Raptor Presentations) for 14 years. I trained a team of raptors to go on car trips and hang out in class rooms and many other places.
After Amika pulled me into the dog training world, I completed the instructors’ course for the German Shepherd Dog Association of WA and assisted in the running of a variety of classes alongside experienced and nationally accredited trainers. I’m a member of animal trainer professional organisations, and attend conferences and courses. I am a Certified Professional Animal Trainer – Knowledge Assessed (CPAT-KA).
I love to help people develop their dog skills, and hope to see you on a Dog Training Help course soon!
